It’s very important for people to determine whether they’ll make great strides while on this side of the earth or not.

When James Pinson Labulo Davies provided the sum of 50 pounds sterling in April 1859 for Barbington Macaulay to found the CMS Grammar School, what was he thinking of?

With the fund, Macaulay went ahead to establish the first secondary Grammar School in Nigeria on June 6, 1859.

The school started with six students who were all borders at the “Cotton House” at the famous Broad Street in Lagos.

The seed which the founding fathers sowed did not only outlive them but it’s 164 years old today.

It used to be the school to attend and it hasn’t stopped being that. The school has always contributed it’s quota to the development of the global space.

But then, was Labulo Davies the richest person in Nigeria in 1859? In whatever we do, we should think of generations yet unborn.

I just wanted to say a resounding Happy Birthday to the great grandfather of schools!
