The events unfolding in Zimbabwe have shown that the country’s Armed Forces are generally made up of gentlemen. They are showing us that the military can take over without murdering people.
I’m not a fan of military take over!
But then, I am of the opinion that Mr Mugabe has more than overstayed his welcome. Even with that, his name will never be rubbed off the history books in Zimbabwe.
He was a nationalist of great value. If because, he has overstayed in government, soldiers should kill him, they definitely won’t be doing justice to their fatherland.
Nigerians have, generally, never seen a thing like that. We have been so militarised that soldiers going to negotiate with a civilian president is rather strange to us. As far as we are concerned, those soldiers are no better than boy scouts.
Some Nigerians commented on the social media that Mr Mugabe should have been killed. But then, the soldiers felt they could handle the situation in a better way.
We are, evidently, not used to soldiers being gentlemen, especially in politics. Well, I’m going to shock you.
Soldiers should be gentlemen!
