Yesterday it was Festus and today it’s Seun. Yele is languishing in detention.
The lots of other Nigerians who happen not to be in the ruling class are no better. What with the rapists inside and outside government.
Abi, how do we call those who engaged in 419ing us to gain our votes and are not doing what the people who voted them in expected of them.
They’re nothing but rapists of our confidence in them!
Of course, the physical rapists are having carnal knowledge of the helpless. Kidnappings and armed robberies are the order of the day.
Nilu to loba, to nijoye!
In the first place are our so-called public officers selected, sorry, elected to serve themselves? If so, are they using their own resources so to do?
I believe they did swear to some oaths. I’m not aware of any oath being sworn to by a public officer that requires him to be self centered or, in our case, ‘supporter centered’.
When a president, for instance, is elected, he’s not elected for only those who voted him in. Rather, he’s elected for all and sundry.
But, in Nigeria, it doesn’t appear to be so. Once a president or governor is sworn in, the first thing he does is to declare the treasury his predecessor left behind as empty. He further, criticizes the projects of the person he has succeeded.
The point is that, at the end of the day, he hardly performs better than the man that came before him.
As a way of saving face, he descends on his critics. Even if he doesn’t want to, his so-called hailers call his attention to it.
Now, if he wants to bring a critic into his team, he’s persuaded, even blackmailed to drop him.
To my mind, most critics of government are even better Patriots than the so-called supporters of the government. But then, those in government are gari-headed.
They would rather be praised for doing absolutely nothing than be criticized constructively.
Well, the Yoruba will say when two siblings go inside a room and they come outside frowning, there’s no doubting the fact that they’ve told each other some home truths. But if they should come out laughing, they might have gone in there to gossip.
The way we’re going, let’s hope against reality that our dear country will not be saying, before long that, ‘It’s finished’.
