It’s a given that governments and private individuals do incorporate airlines. If we consider the bigger countries and say, if not them, who else? The ‘elses’ are those countries Nigerians will snigger at about their national worth.

Indeed, individual Nigerians will jeer at people from those countries and feel they are lacking in self worth. I’ll presently show us it’s Nigerians themselves who are lacking in national and self worth.

Let’s start with Rwanda. It’s a small country. The important thing is that it’s a country where the Hutus and Tutsis nearly annihilated each other.

However, they have remained a great people
I’m glad to shock you that Rwanda is one of the countries that have airlines.

We all know of Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya and so on. These are countries Nigerians laugh at because we think they are poor in comparison with our dear country where a former leader allegedly claimed the problem of Nigeria is not money, but how to spend it.

All these countries have airlines, an exercise which has remained an impossibility for Nigeria. By the way, which economic exercise is being performed creditably in Nigeria?

Let’s use Turkish Airline as an example. Apart from the over a hundred planes that the airline owns, there are other related services.

For instance, the Turkish gourmet entertainment services, Turkish ground services, Turkish aviation services, Air cargo services, Air passenger bus shuttle services, Sky chefs, Air clinic, Turkish technic and others.

This is to show that the airline business is a great employer of labour. Instead of our children wasting away doing nothing, if we have a viable airline, millions of people will be employed either directly or indirectly.

However, are we ready for such a venture? What is the state of our airports?

Is it not the case that security agents are much more than travellers in our airports? What’s their business in the airports? What is the state of facilities in the airports?

Then, is the country safe for doing business or even tourism?

I believe these are some of the issues we have to address before embarking on the lucrative airline business!
