Hundreds of people marched through Dublin on Monday in a rally organized by anti-immigration campaigners.
The protesters were draped in Irish flags and kept shouting “out, out, out” while walking down O’Connell Street.
Some of them were wearing hoods, balaclavas and sunglasses while they chanted, “our streets”.They were waving Irish flags.
The march began just after 3:30 pm at the Garden of Remembrance. Participants were arriving in groups carrying flags and placards.
“This is our country,” one man shouted, a scarf hiding his face.
At the GPO, about 200 people staged a counter-protest, “united against racism”.
The counter-protesters held Palestinian flags and placards. Some of the placards read, “No to far-right and racism”, “Homes for people, homes for all”, “War creates refugees” and “Welcome all refugees”.
However, a line of police stood between both parties.
