A group of Bangladeshis have been turned away from entering New Zealand.
RNZ reports that they tried to enter the country without a visa. Immigration New Zealand has said they are likely to be victims of people smugglers.
The Immigration was worried at the large number which it described as extremely unusual..
Inquiries revealed the men were not going to transit to Australia or take a cruise, as they could with an ETA. They were planning to stay in New Zealand.
It was discovered that the men did not have a visa to enter Australia, nor did they have a travel booking to take them to Australia.
INZ national border manager Peter Elms was of the view that the men had been conned by people smugglers.
