Almost half a million did not have power Friday night after a downpour had drenched southern Quebec throughout the day causing flooding in several areas.
CBC reports that at least one municipality in the province declared a state of emergency. La Macaza has opened a shelter and an emergency co-ordination center for victims.
Mayor Yves Belanger said one person has been forced to flee. Emergency services are checking on residents of isolated properties.
Several residents of the have been trapped by floodwaters.
