Israeli troops have left the occupied West Bank city of Jenin and its refugee camp on Friday. They left after a lover a week of operation, which has claimed dozens of Palestinian lives.

After days of destruction by soldiers backed by armored vehicles and bulldozers, residents who had fled began returning to their homes in the camp.

The army launched a military operation on August 28 in several cities and towns of the northern West Bank, including Jenin.

The army made a statement on Friday that Israeli forces “have been conducting counterterrorism activity in the area of Jenin,” without confirming a withdrawal.

Residents have started their own bulldozers to clear the rubbish after Israeli armored tanks left.
